Study for Success

The workload for post-secondary students can be staggering. Fortunately, a number of schools provide study skills counselling to make sure all the hard work you’ve put in to getting there pays off.

You can get advice on topics like:

  • managing your time—applying tips like to-do lists with estimated times for each task, and making the most of down time
  • dealing with procrastination—even ‘A’ students procrastinate, so learn how to deal with this bad habit
  • staying healthy—exercising regularly, eating “brain foods” that are good for your body, staying hydrated and getting sleep, and
  • studying effectively—strategies like memory tricks, tackling bits of various subjects in one sitting and learning how to prepare for exams all help.

Check the Web site of your post-secondary institution to see what study skills assistance is offered. Online tutorials, in-person workshops and individual or group consultations for students are common and can make a difference in your success!
