Primary Caregiver
How do you know if you are the Primary Caregiver of the Child? If you are the person primarily responsible for the care of the child and you are eligible to receive the Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB), you are the primary caregiver. In most cases, the primary caregiver is the mother.
If you are not the primary caregiver and have opened an RESP for a child then you must have the primary caregiver fill in their portion of the Additional Canada Education Savings Grant Form to determine if the child is eligible to receive the A-CESG.
